Status Update: Un Meeting On The Fight Against Tuberculosis

SUMMARY

A high-level meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations is addressing the global threat of Tuberculosis (TB), noting that urgent action is required to accelerate progress to end TB.  This preventable and curable infectious disease still claims around 4,000 lives daily around the world, largely due to drug-resistant TB. This update addresses the need for increased medical and economic commitment in the fight to end TB, unabashedly drawing attention to delayed progress in areas such as universal access to TB prevention and diagnosis.
