Climate Change
We know that companies have a particularly important role to play in minimizing climate change and protecting our planet.
That’s why we take a 360° approach to environmental stewardship. Our eco-friendly actions include reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste, developing eco-design and optimizing the lifecycle of our products, and utilizing natural resources as efficiently as possible.
To support our sustainability strategy, we have set out specific environmental targets for 2034. These include lowering our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of scopes 1&2 by 62% in comparison with 2023 (in absolute value). Moreover, to reduce our GHG emissions across our entire value chain and over the long term, we have committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. These targets are in line with current best practices: they have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative and are consistent with levels required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Additionally, we have identified an opportunity to reduce our indirect emissions (Scope 3) and have set a target to reduce them by 35% by 2034.
We actively work to reduce our emissions in all our operations and along the entire value chain. To this end, we collaborate with our network of suppliers and logistics partners to improve the Company’s carbon footprint.
- Air freight emits more than 10 times the amount of CO2 compared to other means of transportation, that’s why we use sea freight whenever possible. In 2025, the proportion of sea freight for the shipment of reagents/instruments/spare parts compared to air freight is 59%.
- We introduced an ambitious program to provide remote maintenance of our instruments. This improves our carbon footprint by reducing travel by technicians who can now provide remote assistance for maintenance operations, customer services and IT updates of systems.
