Online Course

Microbiology Laboratory Testing to Address AMR

The Global Health Continuing Professional Development (GHCPD) program and the International Diagnostics Centre at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IDC/LSHTM) launched a free 3-week online course curriculum covering the microbiology laboratory in the fight against AMR.

This course has been supported by an unrestricted educational grant from bioMérieux.

Educational booklet

Antimicrobial Stewardship: A practical guide to implementation in hospitals

The objective of this booklet is to provide practical recommendations for healthcare workers in hospitals to improve the quality of antibiotic prescribing and illustrate the role of diagnostics in Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASPs).

Educational booklet

Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing of bacteria & fungi

This educational booklet explains basic facts concerning the relevance and procedures of in vitro susceptibility testing. It provides information on the essential elements required to perform and utilize susceptibility testing as a tool for optimizing anti-infectious therapy.

Educational booklet

Antimicrobial Prescribing: Optimization through Drug Dosing and MIC

This booklet will focus on principles for optimization of antimicrobial prescription and dosing to treat bacterial infections (non-mycobacterial), as well as the value of determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) in customization of antimicrobial therapy, especially for treating critical patients and drug-resistant bacteria.

Educational booklet

Carbapenem Resistance: From Diagnosis to Outbreak Management

This booklet covers issues related to carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacilli (mostly carbapenemase producers in Enterobacteriaceae), as well as their clinical relevance, detection, treatment and prevention.

Educational booklet

Clostridioides difficile infections: From diagnosis to outbreak management

This educational booklet concentrates on the key information needed to understand, diagnose, control and treat Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI), the role of CDI as a quality performance indicator and the importance of diagnostics.

Educational booklet

Environmental Infection Control in Hospitals

Recent evidence is growing on the importance of environmental contamination as a reservoir for healthcare-associated infection (HAI): airborne transmission of aspergillosis is a high risk for immunosuppressed patients; water contamination may be a reservoir for acquisition of high-risk pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosaLegionella pneumophila or carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales; the survival of resistant bacteria on dry surfaces has been responsible for transmission of multidrug-resistant organisms and Clostridiodes difficile.

Educational booklet

Tuberculosis - A practical guide to diagnosis and management of latent and active TB

This educational booklet, written by Professor Keertan Dheda, provides an overview and practical guide to the classification, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, management, and prevention of latent and active TB.

It is aimed at recently qualified healthcare professionals, junior medical officers, primary care physicians, and general physicians.
