PhD Theses

In France, bioMérieux hosts around 20 doctoral students. Some of them come from other countries, for example within the scope of the Erasmus program.

The projects they work on are extremely varied, reflecting the diversity of activities at bioMérieux. They enjoy the opportunity to interact directly with specialists at bioMérieux as well as other Institut Mérieux entities.

The environment in which this PhD student community works is exceptional because bioMérieux gives them access to a vast scientific network, in particular through:

  • Mérieux Université “PhD Days” organized annually in partnership with Institut Mérieux;
  • Mérieux Research Grant Days,” an opportunity to attend presentations by internationally-renowned scientific experts and establish contacts to seek postdoctoral positions.

While most of the PhD students are hosted by our research teams, they can also work on their theses at our joint research laboratories, within the hospital (Hôpital Edouard Herriot or Centre Hospitalier -Lyon-Sud), and in close contact with the specialization at the core of their research, at universities or one of France’s top-ranking grandes écoles. This arrangement allows them to pursue their research projects with co-supervision from academic partners.
