Early Warning & Lasting Quality: How Valensina ensures microbiological quality of their juices with D-COUNT®?
Who is the Valensina Group?
The Valensina Group is one of Europe’s leading producers of fruit juices and juice drinks. As a family-owned business with decades of tradition, Valensina stands for quality, innovation, and customer-centric solutions.
With production facilities in Vechta, Mönchengladbach and Erding, the company manages a diverse portfolio of branded, private label, and copacking beverages, distributed throughout Europe under renowned brands like Valensina, Wolfra, and HITCHCOCK.
Their daily quality challenges
For the Valensina Group, flexibility is a core strength - it enables them to respond quickly to customer requirements while consistently maintaining high product quality.
With a strong emphasis on prevention rather than reaction, the company stays ahead of potential issues — ensuring smooth, uninterrupted processes from production to delivery. This proactive mindset is especially critical in an environment where products have short shelf lives, there is no positive release protocol, and no time for quarantine. Under these conditions, the stakes for microbiological safety are significantly heightened, making early detection and rapid response essential.
D-COUNT® throughout the value chain: one solution, multiple gains.
In this video testimonial, we spoke with key leaders from the Valensina Group, including Tino Mocken, Executive Management, and Michael Flore, Head of Quality Management, and other experts across production, logistics and copacking.
They rely on the D-COUNT® system daily to ensure microbiological safety, accelerate product release, reduce storage time and maintain the consistently high quality their customers expect.
D-COUNT® saves storage time and costs!
At the Vechta production site, the Valensina Group operates with impressive scale and precision. The facility has the capacity to store up to 15,000 Euro pallets of finished goods, with an additional 5,000 pallet spaces available in an external warehouse. Altogether, this equates to a storage volume of approximately 12.6 million bottles—some housed in block storage, others on racks.
On average, the site produces around 650 pallets of finished goods per day, totaling 3,250 pallets over a five-day period. This level of output demands highly efficient logistics coordination, especially during seasonal peaks and retail promotions. Each additional day of storage incurs significant overnight costs, amounting to several hundred euros daily.
To address this, the company uses D-COUNT® to accelerate microbiological quality control and reduce the time products spend in storage. By enabling faster product release, D-COUNT® allows Valensina to cut storage time from ten days to just five.
This reduction not only improves operational agility but also translates into substantial cost savings in logistics—freeing up space, reducing handling, and optimizing delivery timelines.
