PALCAM Description

Overview

  • Listeria colonies will have a black halo around them.
  • Fermenting contaminants such as Staphylococcus and Enterococcus will produce yellow colonies.
  • This medium complies with standard NF EN ISO 11290 for the detection and enumeration of Listeria monocytogenes. 

Intented Use

  • PALCAM agar is based on the formulation described by Van Netten et al.  and is recommended for the selective isolation of Listeria in foodstuffs.
