Overview
- BACARA® 2 results can be read within 21h incubation.
- Typical colonies of B. cereus group show a pink/orangey color.
- BACARA® method has been certified NF VALIDATION as an alternative method of analysis for the enumeration of Bacillus of the cereus group in all human food products.
- No confirmation need.
- BACARA® 2 supports the growth of all pathogenic B. cereus group strains — including Bacillus cytotoxicus.
Intended Use
- BACARA® 2 agar are selective chromogenic media that allow the enumeration of strains from the Bacillus cereus group without confirmation.
- B. cereus belongs to the B. cereus group within which can also be found B. thuringiensis, B. weihenstephanensis, B. mycoides, B. pseudomycoides, B. anthracis, and B. cytotoxicus. The sensitivity of the medium has been specifically optimized to reinforce the growth of all the pathogenic B. cereus group strains.
