UPDATE #5 - June 19, 2023

As we have continuously communicated over the past several weeks, a tornado partially damaged our Lombard manufacturing site in late March. 

We are pleased to share that repairs have now been completed and validation batches are in progress.

We are confident in our capacity to resume supplying products out of our Lombard site by July, and that business will return to normal in August 2023. Maintaining your operation remains our top priority and we remain committed to providing regular updates in the coming weeks as the situation evolves.

UPDATE #4 - May 15, 2023

As we have communicated over the past several weeks, a tornado partially damaged our Lombard manufacturing site in late March. 

We are pleased to share that we are making progress with the repairs and re-qualification of the site on the timeline that we anticipated.

We are confident in our capacity to resume supplying products out of our Lombard site by July, and that business will return to normal in August 2023. Maintaining your operation remains our top priority and we remain committed to providing regular updates in the coming weeks as the situation evolves.

UPDATE #3 - April 26, 2023

Please let this correspondence serve as a comprehensive update regarding the weather-related event that impacted our culture media manufacturing site in Lombard, Illinois (“Lombard site”). 

As previously communicated, an EF-1 tornado partially damaged the Lombard site on March 31, 2023.  We have devoted extensive resources to assess the extent of the damage while also maintaining our commitments to customers. 

Since our last update on April 6, 2023, we have learned that the damage from the storm will result in a longer than anticipated shut down of the Lombard site. Due to these unforeseen circumstances, some of the products manufactured at the Lombard site will be temporarily impacted.   

As of today, we anticipate that this disruption will be most noticeable in June and July.  Based on the information currently available to us, we expect we will be able to start supplying products out of our Lombard site again by July, and that business will return to normal during August, 2023. 

In the meantime, we are exploring alternative solutions to help ease this temporary disruption. Starting in May, we will be sourcing specific products and media from our sister site in France.  However, we want to be clear that the additional production from our sister site will not be sufficient to satisfy all customer orders. The additional production will be apportioned in a way that maximizes public health needs.  Your Account Manager will contact you directly to discuss if you qualify for this solution. 

If we cannot fulfill an order during this temporary disruption, and an alternative internal solution is not available, our team will work with you to help identify another alternative solution. 

In accordance with our Terms and Conditions, we are declaring the aforementioned an event of force majeure, which excuses our performance during this temporary disruption.  Maintaining your operations remains our top priority.

We apologize for the temporary inconvenience caused by this situation.  Please be assured that we are dedicated to resolving this issue as quickly as possible.

UPDATE #2 - April 6, 2023

It is our goal to be in constant contact to support and proactively address any questions or concerns you have regarding the Lombard, IL culture media production site that was affected by a recent weather event communicated on Tuesday April 4th, 2023.*

We remain confident that all orders due within the near term will be shipped in full and on time. As we are processing orders, we have made the decision to review all orders prior to shipment moving forward. This decision was made to enhance our capacity to monitor our stock efficiently and to meet your demand for the near term. This review will not impact the delivery lead time of your order.

This new process prevents our system from automatically informing you of the shipment date, but it still allows the shipment of products that are available in our inventory. As a result of this modification, you may see on your order confirmation a ship date of “to be confirmed” instead of the usual ship date.

Maintaining your operations is our top priority. Our assessment of stock situations for all Lombard products is ongoing and additional updates will be communicated as needed.

*As a reminder, only bioMérieux prepared culture media manufactured at the Lombard, IL facility was affected by the storm. There is absolutely no impact to other bioMérieux solution ranges.

UPDATE #1 - April 4, 2023

In a spirit of partnership and transparency, we are communicating a weather-related incident in which severe storms partially damaged one of bioMérieux’s culture media manufacturing sites in Lombard, IL on March 31, 2023.

Our dedicated team of professionals are assessing the extent of the damage and are continuing to work around the clock to make necessary repairs to the facility. At this time, our current inventory is projected to meet near-term customer requirements. 

As the situation evolves, we will provide timely updates. We are committed to maintaining our exceptional record of above-and-beyond customer service with minimal disruptions and are thankful for your understanding in this extraordinary circumstance.
