TEMPO®, an automated enumeration method, was evaluated against a plating method across multiple cannabis matrices and microbial contaminants. Data in the study was independently collected at both a cannabis compliance laboratory and cultivation site in 2020 in the TEMPO® to Enumerate Quality Indicators in Cannabis & Cannabis Products: A Cannabis Testing Lab Study.

Statistical analysis from the study demonstrated equivalence in results between the TEMPO® solution and a plating method across all contaminants and matrices. The TEMPO® solution offers a streamlined workflow for both sample preparation and analysis, standardizes operations while eliminating analyst variability in colony enumeration, reducing laboratory error while increasing efficiency of technicians, and provides traceability with an audit trail.
