During his keynote address at the 2021 World AMR Congress, pharmacist and adjunct professor Tristan Timbrook overviews the issue of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) at both a patient and population health level and explains the role of rapid diagnostics in improving antimicrobial stewardship (ASP). Coordinated efforts and a "One Health" approach are required for population level improvements as stewards consider the impact of AMR on people, animals, and the environment when optimizing antimicrobial use.
