New Discovery Could Help Take Down Drug-resistant Bacteria

SUMMARY

Taking aim at hydrogen sulfide production to stop the defensive tactics of bacterial species could be a "true game changer" in the fight against AMR by preserving the efficacy of existing antibiotics. Senior author Evgeny Nudler, PhD, professor of biochemistry at New York University Grossman School of Medicine, and his colleagues published a study focused on halting enzyme production for S. aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa with the hopes that their finds will be applicable to patient therapeutics in the future.
